For this blog post I wanted to talk about my favourite Cardio workouts. I never used to really participate in many Cardio workouts. This was largely because I’ve always been active and involved in different sports clubs so haven’t really felt the need to workout alongside this. However whilst at University I found that cardio was one of the best ways for me to take a break from everything. Whether that be studying, writing essays, boy troubles or even girl troubles cardio is a great way to relax and unwind.
One of my favourite short Cardio workouts is the Tabata. Tabata workouts are ridiculously simple and you can take part even if you have no equipment at home. A Tabata workout is simply one in which you choose an exercise and do the exercise for 20 seconds, pushing yourself as hard as you can. This is followed by 10 seconds of rest before you repeat the 20 seconds. Depending on the level of the exercise you should do this 8 – 20 times. I like to do lunges and mountain climbers in the Tabata workout.
Aerobic Circuit Training.
Similar to traditional circuit training, Aerobic Circuit Training is short periods of Cardio with short periods of anaerobic training. Aerobic Training is great if you’re short on time and want to combine working out muscle groups with cardio. It also works great if you’re like me and get bored easily. I like to do 3 minutes on the treadmill, 1 minute leg presses, 3 minutes on the elliptical, 1 minute squats, 3 minutes on the rowing machine, 1 minute leg raises, 3 minutes on the stair machines.
I’m still on the lookout for an American Football team to join. So if you know any in the Greater Nottingham area then please let me know. I’m pretty desperate now so don’t mind having to drive for an hour to get there!
